Hair Growth Products

Hair growth products commonly come in the form of pills and creams to be rubbed into the scalp. There are several options out there so ask your doctor which would be best for you.

One hair growth product that everyone has heard of is Rogaine. This topical cream is rubbed into the scalp twice a day and takes about four months to work. Rogaine uses the drug minoxidil and comes in formulations for men and women. This cream claims to re-grow hair by stimulating and enlarging hair follicles. If you stop using Rogaine at any time, you will continue to lose hair.

Another popular hair growth product is Propecia. Propecia is designed to deal with mild to moderate male pattern baldness and uses the drug finasteride to decrease hair loss and increase hair growth on top of the head. It is not effective for a receding hair line. Propecia comes in pill form and is taken once a day. It is very important that women do not take or handle these pills as they have been shown to cause birth defects.
